Leading By A Lot: Why it's So Important to Trump to Say He's Winning, When He's Not

In yet another “press conference” that put his derangement on full display, Trump once again claimed that he is leading Kamala Harris in the polls when he obviously is not.

If you’re a new subscriber to Is That Clear, you may have missed the piece I did yesterday focusing on Donald Trump’s mental health, or lack thereof. You can read that piece at this link.

Yesterday, right on cue, Trump put his derangement on full display once again at yet another “press conference,” this one not at his Mar-a-Lago country club in Florida, but at his Bedminster country club in New Jersey. In addition to his usual gibberish, he once again made his delusional claim that he is “leading in the polls.” And not only leading, but leading “by a lot.”

Why does he keep saying this? Clearly it’s to make himself feel better, especially when he’s seen the last three weeks getting spanked by Kamala Harris who has turned Trump’s 3.2 point lead over Biden (per the FiveThirtyEight.com polling average) into a 2.7 point deficit.

Trump’s repeated lie about “leading in the polls” is designed to serve a more specific purpose for him, however — he is laying the foundation for a new attempt to overturn the election results, if in fact he ends up losing.

By the way, in a separate event yesterday that was supposed to address antisemitism, Trump once again managed to express his disdain for wounded military veterans, saying that “everyone who gets the Congressional Medal, they’re soldiers. They’re either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit so many times by bullets or they’re dead.”
